Drama “Code Blue” gets second series
Fuji TV confirmed that popular “Code Blue” drama series, broadcasted in 2008, is getting a second full season.
The drama’s full title is “Code Blue: Doctor Heli Kinkyu Kyumei.(コード・ブルー~ ドクターヘリ緊急救命)” The concept is based on Japan’s proposal for an emergency medical service using helicopters to quickly reach those in need.
Tomohisa Yamashita (山下智久) stars as a young doctor-in-training, working under the guidance of an experienced “flight doctor” Toshiro Yanagiba (柳葉 敏郎). Some scenes will be filmed with a real helicopter, adding to the show’s tension.
Although the drama originally aired in the network’s Thursday 10:00pm time slot, it has now been moved to the Monday 9:00pm slot.
Lead actor Tomohisa was also the star of “Buzzer Beat” in 2009, making him the first person ever to star in two “Getsu 9 (月9)” dramas separated by only a season.
In addition to Yamashita, the main cast of Yui Aragaki (新垣結衣), Erika Toda (戸田恵梨香), Manami Higa (比嘉愛未), and Yosuke Asari (浅利陽介) is returning. Other familiar faces include Masanobu Katsumura (勝村政信), Susumu Terajima (寺島進), Tetta Sugimoto (杉本哲太), and Ryo (りょう), while Kippei Shiina (椎名 桔平) is a new addition.
“Code Blue” second series’s broadcast begins in January.
