Haruhi Suzumiya is the crazy girl and actress who played the leading role as herself in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, was the main character of the nine-part autobiography Haruhi Suzumiya, and founder and former leader of the SOS Brigade.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (or The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya) is the fourth volume of Nagaru Tanigawa’s series of light novels, where the manga and anime originated from, that involves Kyon waking up one day to discover that his world has been changed.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film opened on Feb.6 and earned in the range of 100 million yen in its first two days.
That was enough to rank at #7 on weekend chart.
The film opened on only 24 screens, which led to long lines and high per-screen averages in box office receipts.About 500 fans stood in line early morning at Ikebukuro district to catch the first screening at 8:00 a.m.
