Miori Takimoto X NHK asadora “Teppan”
An asadora (朝ドラ)is NHK’s morning drama series. Asadora air Monday through Saturday at 8:15am, and runs for 15 minutes without commercials. To break it down, asa (朝) means “morning”, while dora (ドラ) is an English loanword meaning “drama”.
The 83rd asadkra series, “Teppan (てっぱん),” has an official heroine.
NHK announced that 18-year-old Miori Takimoto (瀧本美織) was chosen for the lead role from an audition of more than 1,400 actresses.
“Teppan,” which will air for six months starting on September 27, tells the story of a young woman named Akari who moves from Hiroshima to Osaka and tries to start an okonomiyaki (お好み焼き)restaurant.
Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning “what you like” or “what you want”, and yaki meaning “grilled” or “cooked”.
Miori Takimoto (born October 16, 1991) is a Japanese actress and a former musical performer. She is best known for being a member of the musical unit SweetS.
The group debuted in 2003 on the avex trax label. Although they met minor success, SweetS disbanded after three years with the release of a final single in June 2006.
Takimoto recently made her acting debut as the lead female character in the movie “Higanjima,” and she also has a supporting role in the upcoming “Shokudo Katatsumuri.”
