YUKI’s “Ureshikutte Dakiau Yo” at the top of the charts

Yuki Isoya (磯谷 有希),born on February 17, 1972, is one of Japan’s most notable female vocalists. Best known as the lead vocals of the former rock band Judy and Mary.

Judy and Mary was formed in 1991 in Hokkaido.Yuki and Bassist Yoshihito Onda (恩田 快人)  with drummer Kohta Igarashi (五十嵐 公太) and guitarist Taiji Fujimoto (藤本 泰司) were completing the lineup in 1992. Guitarist Takuya Asanuma (浅沼 拓也) later replaced Taiji in 1993.

The band is known for their innovative punk, rock, and pop meldings of noisy but melodic music in the 1990s.
They released seven albums, three compilation albums and twenty-two singles. Judy and Mary disbanded in March 2001 following the WARP Tour Final held at the Tokyo Dome.

Yuki is now enjoying a successful solo career as YUKI.
She released her fifth original album last week. Titled “Ureshikutte Dakiau Yo (うれしくって抱き合うよ)” the album sold 103,000 copies in its first week, placing YUKI at the top of the charts. This is her fourth consecutive #1 album.
