“Kikoshiki” or the ground-breaking ceremony for new hotel was performed on February 24 at the site in Spa Resort Hawaiians. Joban Kosan Co. will invest over 5.5 billion yen for the project. A new hotel “Monolith Tower” will be open on November 1, 2011. Mr. Kazuhiko Saito, CEO, takes the project as the strategic symbol for coming 50 years. He really hopes to bring Spa Resort Hawaiians not being as Hawaii in Japan but for a global scale theme park.

Spa Resort Hawaiians is a large leisure park that utilizes the natural hot springs in the area. In the large dome the temperature is set at 28 degrees Celsius all year around, creating a Hawaiian atmosphere. The site is 6 times as big as Tokyo Dome and many of the facilities utilize the healing properties of the naturally hot spring water for which the area is well known. The large open air bath is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest outdoor hot spring bath in the world. The tower hotel with 121 guest rooms will accommodate 495 people a day and including their existing three hotels, Joban Kosan Co. expects to accommodate additional 100,000 guests a year. They totally expect more than 450,000 hotel guests annually. Existing hotels in Spa Resort Hawaiians are Vir Port, Hotel Hawaiians, and Crest-kan, and including Monolith Tower, they will have four hotels altogether.
