Second live-action drama “Hotaru no Hikari”
The second live-action TV series based on Hotaru no Hikari manga will premiere in July.
Haruka Ayase will reprise her role as Hotaru, a 27-year-old office lady who would rather sit around lazily at home than pursue romance. Hotaru works for a famous interior design company. It’s a glamorous job but Hotaru’s private life is totally the opposite of glamorous.
She lives alone, and when she isn’t working she’s mostly lazing about her rented house in training wear. She’s not interested in men. In fact, she isn’t interested in anything. “I’d rather lay around than fool around,” is her motto.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Hotaru ends up living in the same house as her clean-freak boss, and she soon begins to develop a relationship with one of her younger coworkers.
Naohito Fujiki will also return to the series Hotaru’s boss.
The theme of the second series will be the happiness of the transformed heroine as Hotaru considers marriage.
The manga ran from 2004 to 2009, and 15 book volumes have been published.
