“Gora Tensui” is an inn located in Hakone Japan, designed and built in the Modern Japanese style. It used to be a resort house for employees of private enterprise. It is changed as a hot spring inn on January 15, 2006 after total renovation. “Shokudoraku Co.” which runs F&B business in the Tokai district has taken place its management since this April.
New management tries to make it suitable for female visitors or family rather than male guests. Renovation for outdoor bath and one barrier-free guest room, including “Ashiyu Café”（足湯カフェ）, were completed on this July. The “Ashiyu” Cafe, literally meaning “hot springs foot bath,” is one of the few establishments in all of Japan where you get to sit with your feet soaking in a hot spring bath. After long hours of traveling, you will feel the tiredness leaving you as you relax at the Ashiyu Cafe.
A feature of renovation is, of course, Ashiyu Café “Yoimachi”. The Café arranged with a long marble bar in 13 meters framed in wide glass window is an impressive scene in the lobby. Under the bar, oxidation-reduction hot water for feet bathing is running. Upon arrival, you will be ushered into the Ashiyu Cafe to check-in while enjoying one welcoming complimentary drink at that time.
Guest rooms are 17 rooms in 6 types including Japanese style bedrooms and outdoor views from the baths. For their international guests, they also have rooms that are in the Modern Japanese style that is a perfect blend of Japanese and Western.
Gora Tensui has many different baths: baths using streaming hot springs water, large public baths, open-air baths with negatively charged ions flowing through deoxidizing the hot water and detoxifying your body and they also have “rock base” baths that have recently become popular in Japan. A rock base bath, contrary to its name, is a flat bed made of smooth rock that you lay and relax on as it draws sweat from your body, similar to saunas. Both the men’s and women’s baths have their own individual saunas as well. Swimming suits are not permitted in the baths.
