Kindergarten Autumn Festival(bazaar)
My elder son’s kindergarten held an Autumn Festival (bazaar) last week. I belonged to the “wreath group”, which had about 10 mothers, and we had spent a few months making various pretty hand-made wreaths.
Every process of making wreaths was new to me.
In spring, we cut the Japanese wisteria vine and soak it in water to soften it.
Then, we made it the shape of wreaths and waited for the wreaths to be dried.
In summer, we worked on making various ornaments – needle felted wool balls, knitting, etc. – and collecting various nuts.
In autumn, we decorated the wreaths. Some wreaths had eucalyptus leaves wrapped, and some had the hand-made ornaments.
Here are the wreaths, which we made and I bought at the bazaar.
This wreath has “Bam”, needle felted wool ball
(from the picture book Bam & Kero series by Yuka Shimada)
This wreath is wrapped with some eucalyptus leaves and nuts, which one of the wreath group members collected in the Horyu Temple Area in Nara prefecture.
