Ryutaro of PLASTIC TREE halts band activities due to serious disease complications
Rock band Plastic Tree’s vocal Ryutaro has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome.
They were also supposed to do two year-end lives, one on December 28 and one on the 29 at JCB HALL in Tokyo.
Plastic Tree has just released their new single, “Mirai Iro“, on December 15, and the track even made it into Oricon hit chart top 10.
Guillain–Barre syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP), a disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system. It is frequently severe and usually exhibits as an ascending paralysis noted by weakness in the legs that spreads to the upper limbs and the face along with complete loss of deep tendon reflexes. With prompt treatment by plasmapheresis or intravenous immunoglobulins and supportive care, the majority of patients will regain full functional capacity. However, death may occur if severe pulmonary complications and autonomic nervous system problems are present.
