A FES Anime Song Event to Launch in Chiba, Makuhari in March
A new anime song event called A FES (Anison Festival) will debut on March 26 and 27 at the Makuhari Messe event center in Chiba, Japan. The anime theme song performers Ali Project, Minami Kuribayashi, Minori Chihara, GRANRODEO, JAM Project, and May’n will headline the event.
The event will run alongside Anime Contents Expo, which will also debut on those same days in the same center. That weekend is also when the two public days of Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) have already been scheduled across the Tokyo Bay.
In December 2010 a group of ten large manga publishers known as the Comic 10 Society announced plans to boycott the 2011 event. The boycott is in protest at revisions to the Tokyo Youth Development Ordinance that increase regulation of manga and anime sales to under-18 year olds. This has been seen as a deliberate snub of Governor Ishihara, who is closely associated with both TAF and the changes to the law. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has expressed concern about the impact of the boycott and urged the parties involved to work towards resolving the situation.
Some says that Makuhari Messe event center will have pennies from heaven.
