Strawberry Picking in Mashiko

Tochiotome is a popuplar Tochigi strawberry.
The high season for strawberry picking has come!
My family and I went to Mashiko for strawberry picking yesterday.
As you might know, Mashiko is famous for Mashiko pottery. In addition to the signs of pottery along the streets, you‘ll find those of strawberries. Mashiko produces fresh sweet strawberries – Tochiotome.
The place where we went was JA Hagano Mashiko Kanko Ichigo Danchi(Tourist Strawberry Housing). http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~nyohou/
This is one of the biggest strawberry picking venues in the north Kanto region – with 111 greenhouses of strawberries.
Entrance fee in February and March: 1,200yen / adult
*You can pick up Tochiotome and eat as many as you want!
*Remember that strawberries have a good effect on cold prevention and beautiful skin. Just try and see!

Even a small kid can pick up strawberries himself/herself.
My elder son (age 4 ) could tell which strawberries were red and juicy, and enjoyed himself so much.
My younger son (age 1) enjoyed himself as well – say, in a different way. He rolled around on the ground and played with strawberries. He got dirty all over! I should have made him wear rain boots instead of white shoes.
After we got all full, we bought home-made strawberry jam and other local vegetables.
Strawberry picking is one of the best ways for all families to enjoy Tochigi.
