A regular route bus returned to Ofunato
From my stricken home town ‘Ofunato’
-East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Disaster-
From April 4, a part of regular bus service restarted in Ofunato city which had been completely stopped since the disaster occurred. 6 regular bus routes provided by Iwateken Kotsu Co. entrust of Ofunato city has restarted their service, which mainly cover the center of the city including extending to the coastline of Goishi. They circle on a roundabout route four to five times a day keeping clear of areas where there are still mount of rubbles left, in the central Ofunato such as Iwate prefectural Ofunato Hospital, shopping district, and the city hall. It is free of charge for the moment. According to the local news by NHK, many people who like to go to the hospital and shopping area waited in a long waiting line for its first bus at the Goishi-kaigan bus stop located at the southern border of the city. ‘I’m so glad. I will be able to see my doctor first time since the disaster occurred.’ A lady (60) who tries to visit Iwate prefectural Ofunato Hospital said.
