Estimated amount of tsunami damage is more than 100,000 million yen

Hopefully, no private house is allowed reconstructing in the stricken area.

Amount of damaged Sanriku office building is still under estimation.

 

 Ofunato city gave the first summary report of the disaster caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami to members of the city council on April 28. The city reported that the estimated amount of damage is over 100,000 million yen.

The total amount of damage is 94,278 million yen to date. Classified amount in detail are, damages on the marine products industry, such as fishing boats and nursery facilities, is 31,487 million yen, on the facilities of private commerce and industry is 30,144 million yen, on the facilities of fishing port is 14,650 million yen, and on the educational facilities is 4,220 million yen and so on. Also amount of damages on municipal Sanriku office building and agricultural damages are still under estimation.

 At the session one of members opposed against the mayor’s plan of removing housing area to the high ground. ‘It is too early to decide before the state and prefectural reconstruction policy are given.’

‘We must proceed along the guideline that no house will be build on the land where tsunami easily rash in. No one will be killed in the tsunami, again.’ The mayor expressed his will again.
