10,000 figures on display at Kaiyodo Hobby Museum in Kochi
About 10,000 toy figures are on display at a museum newly opened in the town of Shimanto, Kochi Prefecture.
The museum was set up in a renovated gymnasium of a closed elementary school in cooperation with the town government.
At the opening of Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto over the weekend, around 150 visitors lined up to see the figures made by Osaka Prefecture-based toy maker Kaiyodo (海洋堂) including those of animation characters.
Kaiyodo is a Japanese company dedicated to figures and garage kits. One of their most famous sculptors is Bome, who is most well known for his Mon-sieur BOME collection.
The museum offers visitors an opportunity to experience the process of making parts for the figures.
The entrance fee is 800 yen for high school students or older and 400 yen for elementary and junior high school students.
