Project of temporary food stalls named ‘Fukko Yatai-mura’ has the greatest concern among ex-food proprietors

A briefing session on the project was held at the Ocean View Hotel, Marumori.
Ofunato Restaurant Cooperative is now under consideration of opening food stalls named ‘Ofunato Fukko Yatai-mura’ in Nonoda, Ofunato town. A briefing session for expecting participants was held on July 20 at the Ocean View Hotel, Marumori. Expecting proprietors for the food stalls tried earnestly hearing of information of the scheme. Ofunato Restaurant Cooperative tries recovering of the din and bustle of the food district like in before the disaster by proposed food stalls. 20 of temporary restaurants will be gathered in Nonoda and scheduled to open in the early October.
About 30 ex-local food proprietors who lost their restaurants at the tsunami attended the briefing session.
‘Our project is sure to be approved soon by SME Support, Japan. Although, project site and amount of investment are very important factors, we are trying to reduce initial cost for operation as low as possible. Please make your decision after your careful study on the project.’ Mr. Yusuke Oikawa, the cooperative president addressed at the briefing session.

It supports SMEs and regional communities in solving their problems and realizing their dreams, by providing targeted and personalized support measures. Under the slogan of “providing close, timely and appropriate support”, it supports SMEs through its nine regional branch offices across Japan, with the objective of “SME development and regional promotion”.

According to the explanation on the project, the administrative structure is under ‘Ofunato Yataimura Cooperative and expecting site for stalls will be in Nonoda, Ofunato where the cooperative leases from private sector through the city. 20 units of 8 tsubo (or 26.4 square meters) stalls and two public lavatories will be constructed. Basically, a contractor must run a stall by himself, and a term will be 3 years. Monthly rent is free and no additional charge for incidental facilities. Initial cost is about 200,000 or 300,000 yen for own interior and a monthly fee for common service.
Several questions are presented among the attendants, such us ‘a soundproof device will be equipped or not?’, ‘any license is required such as food hygiene controller’s license or not?’, and ‘is there parking lots?’
Answers from the cooperative was that; ‘each stall should pay for own equipments,’ ‘any additional license is not required but only need to change the address for ex-food proprietors,’ and ‘even we do not have any parking lot in the site, we trying to get it.’
‘It is a good chance to restart my food business again under the support from the government. I would like to decide participating or not after careful consideration such as terms and conditions of the contract.’ A male ex-proprietor who lost his restaurant at the tsunami said.
