Temporary food stalls will be built at the stricken site of  Nonoda in Ofunato

According to the explanation on the project, the administrative structure is under ‘Ofunato Yataimura Cooperative and expecting site for stalls will be in Nonoda, Ofunato where the cooperative leases from private sector through the city. 20 units of 8 tsubo (or 26.4 square meters) stalls and two public lavatories will be constructed. Basically, a contractor must run a stall by himself, and a term will be 3 years. Monthly rent is free and no additional charge for incidental facilities. Initial cost is about 200,000 or 300,000 yen for own interior and a monthly fee for common service.

Several questions are presented among the attendants, such us ‘a soundproof device will be equipped or not?’, ‘any license is required such as food hygiene controller’s license or not?’, and ‘is there parking lots?’

Answers from the cooperative was that; ‘each stall should pay for own equipments,’ ‘any additional license is not required but only need to change the address for ex-food proprietors,’ and ‘even we do not have any parking lot in the site, we trying to get it.’

‘It is a good chance to restart my food business again under the support from the government. I would like to decide participating or not after careful consideration such as terms and conditions of the contract.’ A male ex-proprietor who lost his restaurant at the tsunami said.
