Students attended the opening ceremony for their 2nd term after only a short 13-day summer vacation

Takata Senior High School Students at the temporary school building in neighboring Ohfunato City

The ceremony marking the opening of the 2nd school term of Takata Senior High was performed on August 17 at the temporary school building in Ohfunato City. The disaster occurred on March 11 forced to start their new school term in May this year and therefore the summer vacation had begun on August 4 for catching up the school work properly. Only 13 days of summer vacation was given to the students.

22 students and one teacher in the school lost their lives at the disaster.

‘I hope you can repay people’s supports through your hard working in studying and club activities at the school and become useful men or women for reconstruction of our native cities and towns in future.’ The principal Yoshihiro Kudo gave an address to about 510 students at the ceremony.
