Miss Camellia will take a role positively for reconstruction of Ohfunato
[From Ohfunato City-my stricken home town]
– East Japan Great Earthquake & Tsunami Disaster-
A brand-new Miss Camellia told what her plans to do after.
Miss Natsuki Furuuchi (23), a temporary staff member of Ohfunato City, was assigned as the 13th ‘Tsubaki-musume’ or Miss Camellia of Ohfunato City. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Ikawa Community Center on August 25.
She is going to participate in various events in Japan and promote Ohfunato City. ‘Miss Camellia’ has first assigned as the companions for ‘1999 Camellia Summit in Japan’ held in Ohfunato City. Usually 3 ladies are assigned as Miss Camellias by the Ohfunato Sightseeing and Products Organization and start working their duty at ‘Goish Seaside Sightseeing Festival’ in May.
However, the tsunami disaster damaged the city on March 11 this year, so the organization could not depend on private companies and could assign just one Miss Camellia.
‘We are now trying hard to reconstruct tsunami damaged our city. I hope you will be able to promote our city Ohfunato as much as you can.’ Mr. Toshiaki Saito, the chairman of the Ohfunato Sightseeing and Products Organization’ encouraged her at the ceremony.
‘We are in very difficult period, and therefore we need to promote vigorous Ohfunato for everybody in Japan right now. I like positively take a role for reconstruction of the city.’ A brand-new Miss Camellia told what her plans to do after.
