Singers from areas hit by the March quake and tsunami will perform in NHK’s 62nd “Kohaku Uta Gassen” music extravaganza to be broadcast on New Year’s Eve.
Among the artists are Inawashirokos(猪苗代湖ズ), a rock band whose members hail from disaster-hit Fukushima Prefecture, as well as veteran singers Toshiyuki Nishida and Masao Sen, Japan Broadcasting Corp. said in releasing the lineup of 55 individual and group performers in the event.
A total of seven new faces will be featured in the show, including Inawashirokos and the popular duo of 7-year-old girl Mana Ashida and 7-year-old boy Fuku Suzuki, the program’s youngest ever performers.
