Satsuki and Mei’s House’s tickets now offered in LAWSON convenience stores
Beginning in April, individuals who wish to visit the Satsuki and Mei’s House exhibit in Aichi, Japan will be able to purchase tickets at LAWSON convenience stores.
Satsuki and Mei are characters in the anime My Neighbor Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. In the movie, the Kusakabe family moves to a large house in the Japanese countryside from Tokyo.
The house was designed by Miyazaki, and is a faithful reproduction of a 1950’s era Japanese country house down to the smallest details, with a delightful bathroom, study, garden and well.
When it was first reopened in 2006 after its exhibition in the 2005 World Expo, an overwhelming demand for tickets led to the decision to make tickets only available via return-paid postcard. According to Aichi prefecture, the house received 100,000 visitors in 2010.
Beginning on the 10th of each month, tickets for the next month will be available for 500 yen (about US$6) for high school students and older and 250 yen (about US$3) for children older than 4 who are not yet in high school.
