Etsy, the world’s most vibrant handmade online shopping site, isn’t that famous as yet in Japan, but trend-conscious people, including fashion designers, are already keeping a very close watch to see what happens next.

‘Astro Boy’ vs ‘Rei Ayanami’- Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum to host exhibit on Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum (手塚治虫記念館)in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, will host an exhibition on the popular “Neon Genesis Evangelion” comic series from June 29.

At the show through Oct. 22, visitors to the museum, which displays original sketches of “Astro Boy” and other items, will be able to see items such as storyboards from Evangelion’s 1995 debut on television, replicas of costumes and a life-size figure of the popular character Rei Ayanami.

Resident Evil (Biohazard) restaurant to open in Shibuya Parco on July 13
The world’s first official Resident Evil (Biohazard) restaurant will open on July 13. Biohazard Cafe & Grill S.T.A.R.S. will be inside the Shibuya Parco shopping center in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward.

Ribbonesia
Ribbonesia is the art project which artist and illustrator Baku Maeda has been working on. Baku found interested in the way of expression in three dimensional and sculptural ways by using ribbons.
This simple repetition of twist and bend sublime such rich expression of animals.
The Star Festival
My daughter is writing her wishes on strips of colorful paper and hangs them from bamboo branches.
The strips say “I wish to become a “Pretty Cure” in the future… for the sake of the world peace”.
A five-year-old girl tries to bring about world peace!
Please don’t forget it even when you’ve grown up. 🙂

Japanese hip-hop dance
Japanese hip-hop dance is said to have begun when Hiroshi Fujiwara (藤原ヒロシ)returned to Japan and started playing hip hop records in the early 1980s.Fujiwara is known as the godfather of Harajuku culture and is a globally influential streetwear designer, including being the pioneer for Nike’s “HTM” line, and the “Fenom” line for Levis.
Eri Yamada (山田恵理), student of Vantan Design Institute, loves hip-hop, and has been dancing for 6 years.
