(http://t-expo.jp/en/program/cms.html) I personally visited the two big events and collected a lot of interesting information and exchanged ideas with the participants, some of whom were my friends or those I sometimes work with. I enjoyed the delicious food provided by tourism- related restaurants and local specialities and impressed by the greatly enthusiastic atmosphere of energies of the expos as well.

South Korean apparel products maker E.Land Co. opened its first Japanese outlet for its Mixxo women’s fashion brand on Friday at the Sogo Department Store in Yokohama.
K-pop girl band After School took part in a promotional event at the department store.
The South Korean brand, which has retail outlets in China, Europe and the United States, targets Japanese women in their 20s to 40s, competing with such brands as Uniqlo, Zara and H&M in Japan.

“Travel Mart 2012” was held at Yokohama Pacifico in Minato Mirai in Yokohama Kanagawa pref. Nov. 20-21 hosted by Japan Tourism Agency and JNTO(Japan National Tourism Organization). http://www.vjtm.jp/index.html
More than 270 oversea buyers(travel agencies) from 17 countries and regions, such as China, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and so forth and media from 11 countries and regions were invited. They contacted or visited booths of Japanese sellers(inbound related businesses) and exchanged information and had business negotiations with them.
In addition, 16 familiarization trips were also provided for the invited visitors. The aftermath of the tsunami disaster and territory disputes with closer countries didn’t affect the event much. I visited the event myself and found very lively and successful even compared with the same event last year. This may be a good sign of recovering situations of Japanese inbound industry.
The object, called “Michi eno Hana （未知への鼻）” ,trunk toward the unknown, was installed at Zo no Hana Park (Elephant’s Trunk Park) in a Yokohama port area in late April for a limited period.

The Cupnoodles Museum, which will open in Yokohama’s “Minatomirai(みなとみらい）” district, offers visitors a chance to make instant ramen noodles from flour, and arrange to eat a cup of noodles with the ingredients and soup of their liking.
Visitors can also eat at a restaurant that serves noodle dishes from around the world, while children can experience the whole cup-noodle-making process from noodle preparation to the final shipment stage at a playground that mimics a factory.

A “reptile cafe,” offering customers the rare experience of observing exotic creatures while sipping Chinese tea, opened in Yokohama, southwest of Tokyo, in July, the latest addition to a rising number of Japanese cafes featuring animals, typically cats and rabbits.
At the “Reptile Cafe/Yokohama Subtropical Teahouse (爬虫類カフェ 横浜亜熱帯茶館） ” located in the port city’s Naka Ward, customers are able to observe around a dozen different species, totaling 40 in number. Kept in tanks and cages, they include a 1-meter-long lizard and a 1.7-meter-long snake.
“Unexpectedly, we have many female customers,” said Mutsumi Nagano, the 42-year-old manager of the cafe.
The customers are also able to pet land turtles, who the manager says are friendly, in a partitioned-off area, but customers are required to wash their hands on entering and leaving the area.
